Six years, three hundred pairs, and everything in between

If you're new here: welcome. You may not have followed the journey from the start, and you may not have tried a pair of Goatlanes yet. But today marks six years since it all began, and it felt like a good time to tell the story of how 300 pairs of shoes became Goatlane.

On August 13, 2020, a delivery truck arrived with our very first production run: 300 pairs of Goatlane shoes. There was no warehouse waiting for them, no launch event and certainly no big team standing by. Just a lot of shoeboxes arriving at a small apartment and the feeling that something we'd been working on for a long time had suddenly become very real.

We took a photo of the boxes stacked across the apartment floor. At the time, it was simply a way of documenting the moment. Looking at that photo today, it means something completely different. Those 300 pairs were the beginning of everything that followed.

What the first 300 pairs taught us

Those first shoes weren't perfect, and looking back, we're glad they weren't. They gave us something far more useful than perfection: a starting point. Once the shoes were out in the world and people actually started playing golf in them, we could listen, learn and begin improving.

That process has never really stopped. Almost every production run since has been refined in one way or another, often through details so small that most people would never know how much work went into them.

The laces are a good example. Something that sounds incredibly simple took us years to get exactly where we wanted it. They couldn't be too stretchy or too firm, too short or too long. We kept adjusting until they felt right. The insoles have gone through roughly five iterations. Threads have been strengthened to improve durability, the outsoles now carry UV protection, we've created more room in the toe box, and the inside lining has continued to evolve over time.

None of these changes alone transformed the shoe. But put them together, production after production, year after year, and they tell a big part of the Goatlane story.

Built by listening

A lot of those improvements didn't begin around a meeting table. They started with an email, a comment or a conversation with someone who had actually worn the shoes.

We've always taken that feedback seriously. When someone tells us what they love, what could feel better or what they think we should change, we bring it back to our production team in Portugal. We discuss it, test different solutions, make samples and see whether we can make the next pair better than the one before it.

Behind a finished Goatlane sneaker are countless versions that never make it to a customer: samples where something wasn't quite right, materials we decided against, tiny adjustments made by a few millimetres and conversations about details most people will probably never notice.

But we notice them. And we believe they matter.

Everything is in the details.

The people behind every pair

One of the things we're most grateful for after six years is the team we've built around Goatlane. In Portugal, we work with people who have become an incredibly important part of the story and who share our obsession with making the product better.

Our ambition from the beginning has been simple, even if achieving it isn't: we want to create some of the most comfortable and best-looking golf sneakers in the world. Getting there has meant years of testing, changing, improving and, sometimes, starting again.

In 2025, we got a reminder that all those small decisions can add up to something people notice. MyGolfSpy called the Goatlane Contour "The Best-Looking Golf Shoe of 2025." For a team that has spent years discussing everything from the shape of a toe box to the stretch of a shoelace, that was a pretty special thing to read.

From an apartment floor to fairways around the world

If you had shown us where those first 300 pairs would eventually take Goatlane, I'm not sure we would have believed you.

Today, Goatlanes have been shipped to 75 countries and 42 U.S. states. We've seen them turn up on fairways at places we grew up knowing by name: Cypress Point, Sunningdale, Wentworth, Seminole, Shinnecock, Winged Foot, Pebble Beach and Valderrama.

Every now and then, we still see a photo of someone wearing Goatlanes somewhere on the other side of the world and think back to those boxes sitting on the apartment floor in 2020. That feeling hasn't really gone away.

And somewhere along the journey, Major Champion and former World No. 2 Henrik Stenson became a Goatlane shareholder. Having someone who has competed at the very highest level of the game believe in what we're building means a great deal to us — and reminds us how far the idea has travelled since those first 300 pairs arrived.

Six years later

A lot has changed since August 13, 2020. The shoes are better. The team is bigger. Goatlane has travelled further than we imagined it would when we photographed those first boxes on the apartment floor.

But in many ways, what we're trying to do hasn't changed at all. We still want to make great golf sneakers. We still read the feedback. We still get excited about a new sample arriving from Portugal. We still spend an unreasonable amount of time discussing details that most people will probably never think about. And we're still trying to make every new pair a little better than the one that came before it.

Maybe that's what six years of Goatlane really comes down to. Not one big moment, but thousands of small ones: 300 pairs becoming the next production run, one piece of feedback becoming a better insole, one sample becoming another, and one country becoming 75.

Here's to ten

Six years have gone by incredibly fast, and somehow it still feels like we're only getting started. There is so much more we want to build, improve and achieve, and we're already curious about what this story will look like when Goatlane turns ten.

For now, though, we mostly want to say thank you.

To everyone who bought one of those first 300 pairs, to everyone who discovered us somewhere along the way, and to those of you who may not have tried a pair yet but continue to follow what we're building: thank you for being here.

The boxes look a little different these days, and thankfully we no longer have to keep all of them in an apartment. But the excitement of seeing a new pair of Goatlanes arrive hasn't changed much.

Here's to the next chapter.
